Scouting helps build strong character, learn practical life skills, and develop leadership experience through outdoor adventures and community service.
Scouts often credit the program with helping them improve teamwork and communication as they form long-lasting friendships. By the time they finish high school, many scouts chose a college major based on an interest that they developed through projects in scouting.
Yes, Troop 219 is a girls-only troop with a female-led leadership team.
We do have a brother troop, Troop 352, who we work with at times for various projects, fundraising, and adventures.
We meet weekly at our charter organization, St Francis of Assisi, located near 540 and Leesville Rd.
That's absolutely ok! We support the development of well-rounded youth, and as such, several of our scouts participate in other activities such as theater, sports, or music and are sometimes unavailable for several months. We work with those scouts to achieve the goals they set for themselves in the ways that they can.
We have several fund-raising opportunities during the year for girls to earn money for their scout accounts, which then pay for their participation in various activities. Some scouts have been known to earn enough money during the year to fully fund all of their scouting adventures.
You are welcome to come to one of our meetings and get to know us a bit more. Email the scoutmaster to let us know that you are interested and we look forward to meeting you.
Yes, girls can and often do reach the rank of Eagle. Most recently, we had two scouts earn their Eagle rank in May 2026.
We will be posting a page highlighting these impressive girls, and the ones who have earned Eagle before them, very soon.
The Adult Leadership for Troop 219 are parents who have been involved in scouting for several years. All leaders have gone through a variety of training, including Safeguarding Youth Training through Scouting America, and the Safe Environment Training through the Diocese of Raleigh. Leaders follow the "Two Deep" Rules of Scouting and have had background checks prior to being approved for their positions. The leadership team for Troop 219 is overseen by a Committee as well as by the liaison through our charter organization.
